Belize’s Amazing Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave

Visiting the unique Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM for short) cave in the jungles of Belize is one of the most amazing experiences you will ever have.  This cave, also known as the ‘Cave Of The Crystal Maiden’ is one of the most impressive archaeological and natural attractions in all Central America.  A visit here is not without its challenges, and definitely appeals to people who don’t mind getting muddy and wet.  The reward however, more than outweighs the challenges, as you will see in the following photographs.

Belize’s ATM Cave is spectacular.  It’s amazing that you can even visit this fascinating place.  Tread carefully, however – in 2012 a tourist fractured one of the skulls by accidentally dropping a camera and as a result, cameras and shoes must now be left at the entrance to the cave.  It’s an incredible experience and is undoubtedly a highlight of any trip to Belize.
