Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions from our customers.

How long should my vacation be?

We recommend spending at least two weeks at your destination. This will give you enough time to recover from any potential jet lag and not feel rushed on your vacation. If you spend less time than this, you may have difficulty experiencing what your destination has to offer.

How do I get around once I’ve landed?

Your in-country travel plans are included in your custom travel itinerary. We will ensure that you can easily reach each location. Depending on the length and complexity of your trip, this can include trains, airplanes, car rentals, and public transit.

What do I need to pack?

What you pack depends on where you are going, the season you are traveling, and the length of your trip. Remember to include at least two pairs of shoes, prescription medication, an outlet adapter for your electronic devices, and toiletries. Most trips include at least one day of exploring nature or a city, so we recommend bringing sunscreen with at least 30 SPF.

Because your packing depends on your trip, as part of your custom itinerary, we provide you with a packing checklist.

What if I need something when I’m abroad?

During your trip, you will have access to our in-country support team. They will be your personal, local concierge service. They are ready to answer any question you have to ensure your trip is stress-free.

How will I pay for things on vacation? Will my debit/credit card work?

Before you travel, you should always speak with your bank about where you plan to go and how long you plan to stay there to avoid having your account frozen. Most countries and locations can support major credit cards. You can go entirely digital for most locations, so you never have to worry about physical money or exchanging currencies.

How do I deal with jet lag?

Be as well-rested as possible before you travel. If you are tired or worn out before your vacation, jet lag will only compound that deficit. During your travel days, limit or avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks. Instead, choose to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Eat light, fresh, smaller, and more frequent meals.

If you have struggled with jet lag or it takes a long time to recover, consider adjusting to your vacation’s time zone the week before your vacation. Adjusting your work and sleep schedule before your vacation will make it easier to acclimate once you arrive.

Where do you recommend I visit?

This is our favorite question! We aim to answer it for each itinerary we create, but we focus on what we think is best for you, not what we loved the most.

We don’t want you to take our dream trip; we want to create your ideal adventure. Each team member has a favorite spot or destination they love to visit, but what we fell in love with might not speak to you. Some people love hiking the Southern Alps, while others enjoy a long day of pampering and soaking in geothermal mud baths in Rotorua. We aim to provide you with a luxury vacation that matches your preferences.

How much will my vacation cost?

The exact cost of a custom luxury vacation depends entirely on the length and complexity of your trip. On average, you can expect to pay at least $4,000 per person per week. If you plan on including premium services and want an ultra-luxurious itinerary, your vacation can cost over $20,000 per person per week.

Do I need a visa?

A US passport is one of the most powerful passports in the world, and with it, you can travel to 186 destinations visa-free. Many countries are visa-free, while some are visa-on-arrival countries for US citizens.

The majority of our luxury trips do not require additional visas. If you are planning to schedule a vacation, we recommend applying for your passport immediately or checking your current passport to ensure it won’t expire before your trip.

Will my phone work when I’m on vacation?

Most countries have available phone networks that your mobile phone can connect to, while in others, you may have to purchase a new SIM card. Depending on your plan, additional fees or charges may be applied to your account.

We recommend putting your phone away during your vacation. Your vacation is a time to relax and take in the amazing sights and sounds of the world. Striving to stay constantly connected only disconnects you from the legendary locations you are surrounded by.

When should I arrive at the airport?

For domestic flights, you should arrive at the airport two hours before your flight. For international flights, give yourself extra time and arrive three hours before your flight. If you are flying during the holidays or other busy travel times, consider giving yourself an additional hour to make it through any delays or queues.

When traveling to a non-English speaking country, how will I communicate?

At Blue World Journeys, we create a comprehensive luxury experience. Our itineraries keep communication and languages in mind so you can feel comfortable and relaxed on your vacation. We work with local experts fluent in English or provide you with professional local translators.
