Day 1 – Arrival in Belize (-)
Upon arrival at Belize City’s International Airport you will connect to your domestic flight to Punta Gorda in Belize’s far south. Upon arrival you will be warmly welcomes by our representative and escorted to your luxurious jungle lodge, where you will check in for a three-night stay. Enjoy your first evening in Belize with a refreshing drink while listening to the sounds of the tropical forest around you.
Day 2 – Rio Blanco National Park (B)
This morning you will visit the Río Blanco National Park. This park is an area of stunning natural beauty and incredible scenery covering 105 acres of beautiful, untouched rainforest thriving with flora and fauna. Trails lead to the spectacular cascading falls of the Rio Blanco which then flow through wide, shallow pools and over smooth slabs of mudstone and sandstone, before pouring over a 15 foot ledge into a deep pool of crystal clear water, a perfect place to enjoy a refreshing swim surrounded by nature. Trees and flowering vegetation encircle the shady cliffs while Blue Morpho butterflies flutter amongst the surrounding trees. The Maya have lived along this river for countless generations and it is still an important part of their daily lives. You are likely to encounter village women washing clothes in the river as their children play in the pools. On the way back to Punta Gorda, you will stop and visit an indigenous Maya village, very typical of the region with thatch hut dwellings and no electricity, where women wear traditional dresses to learn a little more about the way of life here.
Day 3 – At Leisure (B,L,D)
Today you will have the day at your leisure to enjoy the delights of the amazing Belcampo Lodge. There’s plenty to do here, from easy jungle hikes, to bird watching, taking a tour of nearby Punta Gorda town, enjoying a therapeutic massage, or simply relaxing on your private veranda, reading a book and enjoying the sounds and sights of the surrounding jungle.
Day 4 – Fly to Ambergris Caye (B)
This morning you say goodbye to the jungle and head for the Caribbean coast for a complete change of scenery. After breakfast you will transfer to Punta Gorda’s airport for a scenic flight across the Belizean jungle to the laid-back Caribbean island of Ambergris Caye. Although this is one of the most visited areas in the country, you’d never know it from your exclusive beach hotel, one of the finest hotels in the country.
Day 5 – Barrier Reef (B)
This morning you will enjoy a boat tour to the Mesoamerican Reef, which at 185 miles long, is the second longest barrier reef in the world after Australia’s. Here you will find deserted islands of beautiful beaches, swaying palms, amazing snorkeling and swimming with the many varieties of tropical fish in the warm Caribbean waters, including trumpet fish, angelfish, damselfish, rays and beautiful parrotfish. Watch them dart in and out of the abundant and colorful coral reefs. For certified SCUBA divers, the area affords some spectacular dives to vibrant and spectacular coral reefs teeming with colorful fish and coral in one of the most biologically diverse underwater habitats on earth. Returning to El Secreto, you will be able to enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 6, 7 – At leisure in paradise (B)
The last two days of this vacation are set aside to enjoy paradise in your own style. You can take advantage of the free use of Hobie Cat sailboats, kayaks and snorkeling equipment. The hotel’s excellent spa is just steps away from the beach, as is the restaurant and bar. If you prefer to do something more active, the laid-back town of San Pedro, with its restaurants and bars is an easy 25-minute boat ride away. Alternatively, for a change of scenery we can arrange a variety of day-trips to the interior, ranging from jungle hikes to cave tubing, to Maya ruins and butterfly farms, to name just a few ideas.
Day 8 – Farewell to Belize (B)
After enjoying a final leisurely breakfast in your hotel, you will transfer by boat to San Pedro’s airstrip for your short flight to Belize City, connecting to your international flight home.
